Dr Dogan Yuksel (PhD Florida State University, MS Ed University of Pennsylvania) is a Post Doctoral Research Fellow and Project Manager in Prof Kristina Hultgren's UKRI-funded ELEMENTAL project. Dr Yuksel worked at Kocaeli University’s TEFL programme between 2007-2022.
His EMI-related work focused on (a) the impact of linguistic and non-linguistic factors on academic success, and (b) classroom discourse. His work has appeared in some major journals such as Journal of English for Academic Purposes, Linguistics and Education, Journal of Engineering Education, International Review of Applied Linguistics in Language Teaching (IRAL), Applied Linguistics Review, International Journal of Applied Linguistics, System, ReCALL, and Language Teaching Research.
His previously funded projects explored the relationship between language-based challenges and academic success in Turkish English-medium instruction programmes (PI; British Council Turkey), university lecturers’ strategy use to introduce and explain STEM terminology in EMI four contexts: China, Turkey, South Africa and Nepal (Researcher; British Council ELTRA) and curriculum enhancement based on industry stakeholders’ feedback (PI; British Council Turkey).
