Dr Daniel Haslam

I am currently a Lecturer in the Department for Public Leadership and Social Enterprise (PuLSE) and a member of The Centre for Voluntary Sector Leadership (CVSL). Find out more about the centre here: http://www.open.ac.uk/CVSL.

I contribute to a variety of OU modules and this has included chairing large presentations at both Level 2 and 3. I have also delivered post-graduate level modules and am an active PhD supervisor. I deliver student-facing sessions at OU residential schools and as part of module enrichment activites and I support the delivery of CVSL's free online courses for the voluntary sector.

Prior to joining the OU I worked in the voluntary sector for several years in a variety of different roles spanning individual support, project delivery, policy development, and trusteeship. This work included coordinating a Charity Award nominated project.

I continue to maintain a focus on practice by delivering workshops and sessions with a variety of organisations across the voluntary sector. Recently this has included subjects such: as developing leadership, trust and power in collaborations, and ethical leadership tensions.

I also deliver consultancy work with outside partners including local public sector bodies and speak at conferences/events with practitioners across different sectors.

I am a trustee of the Voluntary Sector Studies Network (VSSN) - see: www.vssn.org.uk - and lead on the organisation's work to support 'new researchers'. In addition, I have organised and chaired the new researcher aspect of the annual Voluntary Sector and Volunteering Research (VSVR) conference since 2021.
