Professional biography

Yaw Sampene Buadu is a postgraduate researcher in the School of Computing and Communications at the Open University, UK. Yaw is also a systems and software engineer who with a bachelors in Computer Engineering from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi, Ghana. He holds a masters in Systems and Software Engineering from the National Research University Higher School of Economics in Moscow, Russia. Yaw has experience in the development of web and mobile applications with a decade of professional expreience in that field. He has a keen interest in online learning technologies and a special interest in online learning, motivating his current research into the technical and social challenges of web conferencing.

Research interests

Yaw's research interests are primarily in software engineering, mobile applications and technologies for online learning. His current PhD project is titled "Web Conferencing; The Technical and Social Challenges". 

He is interested in the following areas:

  • Web conferencing technologies
  • Engagement in webconferencing
  • Webcams use in web conferencing tools
  • Social Presence
