Eddy has around 20 years clinical experience as a learning disability nurse mainly working with people who are experiencing complex behaviours.
He is also qualified as a mental health nurse, holds an NMC Teaching registration and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).
He has been an academic for around 7 years working as a lecturer within learning disability and mental health programmes at pre-reg and post-reg level.
Current research: Undertaking a Professional Doctorate exploring the stories that are told by people with a learning disability about their suicide attempt.
Previous research: Masters degree (MRes) exploring student nurses expectation of support when entering inpatient services for people with learning disabilities who may exhibit aggressive behaviours.
Previous publications: ‘Welfare states’ in Learning Disability Practice – comparing welfare states across England Ireland and Denmark and how their different approaches enable or challenge community living for people with a learning disability; Poster presentation of Professional Doctorate Literature review at Positive Choices 2023 Edge Hill University.
