An OU researcher will call for educators to consult research evidence to inform their teaching in a talk during Open Education Week (Monday 2 March).
In a session: OER and Open Pedagogies – Best Practices, run by the European Distance and E-Learning Network, Dr Christothea Herodotou, Senior Lecturer in the OU’s Faculty of Wellbeing, Education and Language Studies, will present a paper on Innovative Pedagogies of the Future: An Evidence-Based Selection, in which she will address:
Dr Herodotou said:
“We assessed six innovative pedagogies in relation to that framework specifically: formative analytics, teachback, place-based learning, learning with drones, learning with robots, and citizen inquiry.
“The role of research evidence and how it can inform the ways we teach has been overlooked over the years. In this presentation, we want to draw the attention of educators to the available evidence around this set of innovative pedagogies that can inform their decisions as to whether and how to apply a teaching approach to their practice.”
