OU research alerts climate change warning
Research conducted by OU academics has highlighted the fact that sensitive regions of the world are at risk from the dangerous and potentially irreversible effects of climate change, even if targets set in the 2015 Paris Climate Agreement are met.
The research, which was published in Nature Climate Change, was led by Lecturer in Earth Systems Science at The Open University, Dr Philip Holden.

The Open University hosted its third lecture in its Global Development Annual Lecture series on 22 October 2026, delivered by Naila Kabeer, Professor Emeritus at the London School of Economics, a faculty member of their International Inequalities Institute, and on the government board of the Atlantic Fellowship for Social and Economic Equity.
