The Open University hosted its third lecture in its Global Development Annual Lecture series on 22 October 2026.

It was delivered by Naila Kabeer, Professor Emeritus at the London School of Economics, a faculty member of their International Inequalities Institute, and on the government board of the Atlantic Fellowship for Social and Economic Equity.

In her lecture: Can care build a better economy? Professor Kabeer claimed that economic inequality, climate change and gender inequality are often treated as separate challenges, yet they are deeply interconnected. She argued that understanding these connections is essential if we are to create a fairer and more sustainable future.
