Join us for this keynote talk to start our Open Research Week.

I believe the public has a right to access and use research knowledge, and that journalists and science communicators play a key role in empowering them to do so. However, open science initiatives often overlook the role of journalists and science communicators in making research knowledge public - an oversight I hope this talk helps address.

About this session

In this talk, Alice will discuss how open science practices - like posting preprints, sharing datasets, and publishing OA research - can support the public in accessing, understanding, and using research knowledge. She will draw on five years of research into journalists’ engagement with open research outputs, as well as her professional experiences as a journalist, science communicator, and scholar.

Presenter

Alice Fleerackers (she/her), Assistant Professor of Journalism and Civic Engagement, University of Amsterdam
